I die a Queen, but I would rather die the wife of Culpepper

About This Quote

This quote is an allusion to the history of the British monarchy. It is a reference to Queen Elizabeth I's relationship with her predecessor, Catherine of Aragon. The relationship between the two women began in 1501 when they were both married to King Henry VIII. Shortly after their marriage, Henry divorced Catherine and married Anne Boleyn, who was also his sister-in-law.

This caused a great scandal and made many people suspicious that Henry and Queen Anne were in love. Eventually, Anne miscarried a child, leading to her execution.
